Vendors Set for Spring Business Showcase Thursday

springshowcase Brownwood TX Local businesses began setting up their vendor booths Wednesday afternoon for the 6th Annual Spring Business Showcase at the Brownwood Coliseum.  The event is scheduled to take place Thursday, April 4th from 10 AM -6 PM and will showcase the goods and services offered by area businesses.

The theme for 2013 is “Rock the Red Carpet” and will host 60 vendors with booths decked out to reveal their favorite movie of all time.   Fashion shows will begin at 11:00 AM with Bon Worth, Maurices at 2:00 PM, Dazzling Diva's at 3:00 PM.

The format for the event changed from Saturday to Thursday for this year, similar to the business showcase hosted in September. The show has also been expanded this year offering more vendors, exhibitors, and fashion shows.

"This year to allow better exposure for all participants, the show has been moved to Thursday and includes businesses of every type." said Missi Malone, Director of Member Services for the Chamber. "In the past, the spring business show focused mostly on seasonal activities such as outdoor recreation, gardening, and home improvements."

Ribbon Cut for New Air Evac Lifeteam Helicopter Hanger

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for Air Evac Lifeteam on Tuesday, March 26th at their new hanger on Streckert Drive in Brownwood.

The new hanger was recently constructed at the location across from Brownwood Regional Medical Center for the Air Evac helicopter.  The hanger will be used for the helicopter during bad weather and cold weather.

Chamber Total Resource Campaign Wraps Up with Record Total

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce wrapped up their 3rd annual Total Resource Campaign on March 26th and far exceeded the $100,000 goal for the year.

Volunteers working in two teams sold more than $118,000 in sponsorship for the chamber, the most ever sold during the TRC Program.   The team Saving Private Porter led by Robert Porter of Porter Insurance sold $69,925 and the Producers led by Priscilla Monson of West Central Texas Valuation Services sold $49,379.

Brownwood Chamber holds Ribbon Cutting for Katy's Steakhouse

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Katy's Steakhouse in Blanket on Thursday, March 21st to welcome them as new members.

Re-established in 2012, Katy's is a local treasure that has been rejuvenated by new owners, Clint and Jami Tunnell. They offer a delicious menu including steaks, fish and gourmet burgers.

Bart Fris Named TxDOT Brownwood Area Engineer

BartFrisBart Fris, P.E. has been named Brownwood Area Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Brownwood District. In this role, he will oversee construction and maintenance operations for Brown, Coleman, Lampasas, McCulloch, Mills and San Saba Counties.

After graduating from the University of Missouri-Rolla in December of 1999 with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Fris worked for Peter Kiewit & Sons Construction in Texas and Colorado.  In October 2002, he began his TxDOT career at the Gatesville Area Office in the department’s Waco District.  In June 2005, he accepted a position with Lampasas Area Office, where he became licensed as a Professional Engineer in June 2006.

Ribbon Cutting for Young's Jewelry and Brady Music

The Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for one of their newest members on Thursday, March 21st in Brady, Young's Jewelry and Brady Music.

Young's Jewelry was founded in 1972 and has a certified jewelry repairman and a diamond grader gemologist.  They sell bridal jewelry, loose diamonds, Seiko watches, and offer jewelry and watch repairs.  They also pay cash for gold. Contact them at 325-597-0493.
