Brownwood’s Retail Analysis Released

brownwoodrtamap350The retail study for the City of Brownwood, which began several months ago, was released to local business owners and the public on Friday at the Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce monthly luncheon.

The study conducted by the consulting firm the Retail Coach was a multi-phase analysis of the area’s retail trade area, spending habits of local residents, and the opportunity to improve local businesses and recruit new business to the area.

“About a year ago now, I asked the city council to support the approval of a Retail Advisory Committee,” said Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes.  “It was the Retail Advisory Committee that recommended the retention of the Retail Coach, and from there went we went to the chamber, the city and the EDC and entered into a agreement to retain the Retail Coach. I think you will see and agree after today’s presentation that it was a great decision and the Retail Coach has done a fine job.”

Haynes reiterated what he has said before about the reasoning behind hiring the retail consulting firm.

Bob’s Fuels, Inc. to Host Training for Volunteer Firefighters

On November 2, 2011, Bob’s Fuels Inc. in Brownwood and the Railroad Commission of Texas’ Alternative Fuels Division will put on a free propane (LP-gas) training class in Brownwood for area Volunteer Fire Departments.  The Railroad Commission is the agency in charge of propane safety in Texas, and the class will be taught by Kent Watts, the Commission’s director of propane training.

Using and handling propane safety is very important to Bob’s Fuels.  The Commission’s propane safety training for local fire departments is designed to increase firefighter’s knowledge of propane and help them respond effectively in any situation.

Bob’s Fuels Inc. will be working with the Railroad Commission to custom-design a three-hour class to meet local needs.  The class includes propane safety topics ranging from barbecue cylinders to residential tanks and commercial bulk installations.  Participating firefighters will receive hands-on experience with propane equipment as well as classroom instruction.

Retail Coach to be Featured at Chamber Luncheon

chamberlogoThe Brownwood Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly luncheon on Friday, October 21 at the Brownwood Country Club from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. The luncheon, which is open to members and guests, will feature an interesting program and will also include door prizes, introduction of new members and a cash drawing.

This month’s presentation will feature information from the Retail Coach.  The consulting firm will release its retail study of Brownwood to local business owner and entrepreneurs for the first time during the luncheon.  The initial phase of their study showed that actual sales in Brownwood’s Retail Trade Area verses opportunity in the market show a short-fall of $422 million.

Bruner Breaks Ground for New Chevrolet Dealership – Photos and Video

The Bruner Auto Group hosted a ground breaking ceremony on Thursday, October 13th celebrating not only the future of the relocation of their Chevrolet Dealership; but also the anniversary of many automotive milestones.

The new General Motors facility at the intersection of Highways 377 and 183, across from Heartland Mall will include a 30,000-square foot full-service dealership which will house the full line of GM products: Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick.  There will also be a dedicated GM Quick Lube and an 8,000-square foot high technology body shop.
