Reunion ‘Hands on a House’ Under Construction
Preparation for the 2012 Brownwood Reunion Celebration is underway and construction of the playhouse for the Hands on a House competition has begun. Contractor Johnny Cantwell and crew began construction on the house Saturday on the corner of Carnegie and Adams Street where the contest will take place on the first night of Reunion on September 14th.
During the competition, participants compete for a custom built playhouse by keeping their hand in contact with the house for the duration of the Reunion. Contestants will be provided with limited breaks during the competition. The last person with their hand in contact with the house is declared the winner.
This year’s house will be modeled after a cabin. There will also be a hunting blind given away as second prize this year.
The rules for the contest state that Hands on a House is a physical endurance contest and will pit 20 contestants, men and women equally alike, against each other. Contestants must remain standing around the clock, day and night, with only minimum breaks for eating and restroom visits, during the Brownwood Reunion Celebration from September 14th through 16th.
There will also be “extreme” challenges for contestants during the event including participation in the Reunion parade, various food drive competitions, a blind-folded round, a costume contest (theme to be announced), a “Simon Says” contest, a waiter’s contest, and/or other physical and mental challenges.
Twenty contestants will be selected from the entry forms received. Forms must be dropped off at Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates – 1900 Austin Avenue.
This year’s competition is sponsored by Coldwell Banker, Mark Campbell & Associates, TexasBank Mortgage, Landmark Life Insurance Company, Ingram Concrete LLC, and Johnny Cantwell – Contractor.
