Amber Moore Receives “Big of the Month” Award
On May 24th, pre-k teacher Amber Moore received the “Big of the Month” award at the pre-k through 1st grade awards assembly at Woodland Heights Elementary. Helping to raise money, recruit children and find volunteers needed to start the agency, Moore was one of the founding community leaders that brought the Big Brothers Big Sisters program to Brown County.
Moore, who served as the first director for Big Brothers Big Sisters, was originally matched with Destiny Salazar, now a high school student at Victory Life Academy. Over the last 4 years Moore and Salazar have built a strong friendship, and though Moore returned to teaching she continued her role as a Big Sister and mentor.
Salazar presented the award to Moore who announced recently that she will be moving from Brown County this summer.
